Petition Remediation Options for Graduate Students As a one-time-only option: • All petitions to drop a W term course or a Y term without a W grade on the transcript will be administratively approved and will not require supporting documentation, provided they are submitted by December 31, 2024. This only applies to Winter 2024 courses and Fall/Winter 2023-24 Y term courses, and there will be no exceptions to this deadline. • Petitions for a General Leave of Absence (LOA) for Summer 2024 submitted during the Senate-established remediation period (April 22 to May 26) will be administratively approved and will not require the typical supporting documentation. This will not affect a student’s eligibility for other LOAs in the future. Please note that the leave cannot be granted retroactively. York graduate students, who would like to exercise any of the above options, are encouraged to speak to their supervisor, GPD, or faculty advisor before submitting strike-related petition requests. Guidelines for submitting this form: 1. Please complete the Retroactive/Manual Academic Petition Form with signatures from both the student and the Graduate Program Director (GPD). 2. Under “Petition Type” in the Retroactive/Manual Academic Petition Form, please select the “Other Petition” and specify that this is a strike related petition for a Course Drop (WI24 and 2023-24 Y term courses) AND/OR a General Leave of Absence for SU24. 3. Attach the completed and signed Retroactive/Manual Academic Petition Form to the 2024 Strike-Related Petitions Submission Form.
